Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin and Dreams Metro Gallery met up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for the latest fixture in the BOCG Life Hong Kong Premier League. Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin fell behind by two goals but stormed back and put three goals past Dreams Metro Gallery, claiming a spirited come-from-behind 3:2 victory over the visitors.
Dreams Metro Gallery had a half-decent chance to take the lead on the 7th minute, when Leonidas Soares’ free-kick found Pablo Gallardo at the back post. The latter unleashed a leaping header but failed to find the back of the net.
The visitors had an even better chance on the 9th minute, when Leonidas Soares’ forward pass carved open the Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin defense and sent Kenji Fukuda through. The Japanese striker managed to get off a tight-angle shot but somehow fired it wide across the intended target.
Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin had a great chance to get in front. On the 16th minute, Zhang Jun’s corner-kick from the left-side found Reinaldo Peres. The latter unleashed a powerful header but saw his effort took a deflection off an opposing player and went out of play.
Dreams Metro Gallery drew first blood of the game on the 21st minute, when Leonidas Soares’ free-kick was powered towards the Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin net through a Leung Kwok-wai header and hit the crossbar. Vasudeva Nunez tried to convert the rebound but was denied by a sprawling save from Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin keeper Cheung King-wah. However the ball was finally nudged over the goal-line amongst a crowd of players, putting Dreams Metro Gallery in front.
The visitors made it a two-goal lead moments later. This time, Leonidas Soares’ free-kick picked out Kenji Fukuda inside the penalty area. The latter dished out a looping header that somehow beat Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin keeper Cheung King-wah and hit the back of the net. The score was now 2:0 for the visitors.
Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin managed to pull one back on the 35th minute, when Yuto Nakamura’s cross from the left-side was directed into the Dreams Metro Gallery net through a Reinaldo Peres header. The home side was suddenly back in the game.
Right before the first half whistle, Everton Camargo received the ball through a soft Yuto Nakamura pass. The latter pulled the trigger on a quick-shot but saw his effort brilliantly paved away by Dreams Metro Gallery keeper Li Yat-chun.
Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin sent the home crowd into a frenzy on the 56th minute, when the referee spotted a Dreams Metro Gallery player committing a foul inside his own box and awarded the home side a penalty. Everton Camargo stepped up to take the spot-kick and fired the ball home, making it 2:2.
The home side took the lead on the 59th minute, when Yeung Chi-lun’s long-throw from the left-side was headed into the Dreams Metro Gallery net by Chiu Chun-kit. Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin was now in front 3:2 after coming back from a two-goal deficit.
Dreams Metro Gallery almost tied the game on the 75th minute, when Lai Lok-yin’s pass sent Leonidas Soares into the Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin box. The Brazilian rounded the keeper and fired away, only to see his effort cleared away by Chiu Chun-kit right before the goal-line.
Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin nearly expanded its lead late in the game. On the 86th minute, Mirko Teodorovic floated a lovely free-kick into the Dreams Metro Gallery box. Reinaldo Peres dished out another header towards goal, keeper Li Yat-chun thought he had the ball in control but spilled the header, only to witness it hitting the goal-post and stayed out from the net.
At the end, the 3:2 score stood towards the final whistle, as Glory Sky Wong Tai Sin served up a sensational come-from-behind victory to defeat Dreams Metro Gallery 3:2.
