AFC U-22 Championship 2013 Qualifiers
China 5:1 Hong Kong

China U22 Representative Team defeated Hong Kong U22 Representative Team by 5:1 in the AFC U-22 Championship 2013 Qualifiers held at Laos. (25 June, 2012).

The Hong Kong U22s got off to a good start against China threatening the opposition goals on a couple of occasions through LAM HOK HEI and Lau Cheuk Hin. The Hong Kong back-line had been strengthened with the inclusion of Ngan Lok Fung and Chan Sui Kwan.  The young Hong Kong side was keeping the more experienced China at bay despite their obvious superiority.  Hong Kong scored the opener through a fast break counter-attack and LAM HOK HEI met a well timed cross with his left foot and found the bottom right corner. After the opener the Chinese continued to pressurize in the Hong Kong half and was awarded a penalty after a tackle from behind by Chan Pak Hang in the penalty box. However the spot kick was saved by TSANG MAN FAI to keep the score line 0-1 to Hong Kong for the 1st half.

After the break, the Chinese continued to pressure hard forcing a corner in the 49th minute. A goal ensued after a scramble in the 6 yard box giving the Chinese team an equalizer early into the 2nd half. The star-studded Chinese team with three Super League players piled on the pressure and demonstrated their skill and high level fitness.  The Hong Kong team fell away conceding two more goals in the 63rd minute and the 69th minutes. The inexperience of the Hong Kong U22s was becoming evident and although they battled on throughout the game, they failed to keep pace with the opposition. In the high temperatures and extreme humidity the Chinese side lifted the intensity and went on to score two more goals. Full-time score – 5:1 to China.
